How do I know if I need a brake fluid flush before a long trip?

Look for a “spongy” brake pedal, a warning light on your dashboard, or fluid that appears dark and tea-colored rather than clear or light amber. If it has been more than two years since your last service, a flush is highly recommended for long-distance driving.

What other fluids should be checked before traveling?

In addition to brake fluid, you should verify levels and quality for engine oil, coolant/antifreeze, transmission fluid, and windshield washer fluid. Proper levels prevent overheating and mechanical failure during sustained highway speeds.

Why should I check my tire pressure and tread depth?

Tire health is vital for fuel efficiency and traction. Long trips generate significant heat in tires; under-inflated or worn tires are at a much higher risk for blowouts. Ensure your spare tire is also properly inflated.
